AGM 2020

AGM Announcement

Women for Independence is delighted to announce the 2020 AGM, which will take place on Saturday 14th November. We hope to see you there!

Many of you will have attended our past AGMs and will know that they are welcoming places where we celebrate the successes of women, catch up with old friends and make new ones. We hope that this year will be no different in these respects, despite Coronavirus making it necessary to conduct the AGM online.

The AGM is open to members only, so if you'd like to attend, do please check that your membership has not lapsed.

If you have questions about accessibility or need assistance with anything else, just contact our friendly National Coordinator.

What you need to know

Keynote Speaker

Jean Urquhart is currently an art student in her third year of a Fine Art degree at UHI. In her working life, she ran The Ceilidh Place in Ullapool and was a Highland Councillor and MSP for the Highlands and Islands. She has been committed to Scottish Independence since the mid-eighties.

Celebrate with song

Christine Kydd is a singer, educator and teller of stories in song. She was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2018, swiftly followed by the success of her album, 'Shift and Change'. The award recognised her lifelong love of tradition Scottish music, songs of history and often of struggle. She continues to engage and inspire folk of all ages, with multimedia projects, like Orlang, a collaboration with artist Maureen Crosbie, in Kirrie Connections, working with people with dementia in Kirriemuir, where she lives.

Christine's passion for her craft, the ethnology and the people within the songs is a joy and we are thrilled she can join us as sisters at our AGM.
