OUR LAND: Scottish Land Festival 2016 - A Gaitherin in the Glens at Birnam Arts Centre on Sunday 7th August is a preview event to kick off the second Our Land Festival ahead of the campaign’s official launch on the Glorious Twelfth this year. Our Land is a month of talks, events and demonstrations across Scotland, organised by grassroots campaign to celebrate our connections with land, forests, rivers and lochs and to highlight our enduring problems with unaffordable, unavailable land – problems that won’t change fast despite recent legislation.
OUR LAND: Scottish Land Festival 2016 - A Gaitherin in the Glens is organised jointly by Common Weal Angus and Women for Independence Highland Perthshire and aims to connect communities across the glens. The day will be hosted by broadcaster and Blossom author Lesley Riddoch and will have a keynote speech by Andy Wightman, Green MSP and land reform campaigner. There will also be talks from the Development Trust Association Scotland and various community owned land groups within Highland Perthshire and Angus. There will be a selection of stalls with information about community owned projects and some fabulous home grown organic produce from The Field - Birnam and Dunkeld’s community growing project. There will be music too from the irreverent Tommy Mackay (The Daily Reckless). The whole event will be streamed by Democracy Live.
